Minus the camouflage body panels, this is what Volkswagen’s ID.4 electric crossover will look like.
Volkswagen
We got our first hint at the ID.4 with this 2018 concept, the ID. Crozz. Comparing the two, you can see which details had to change for the car to be road-legal in Europe, the US, and China.
Volkswagen
One of the most significant changes is at the rear of the car. The taillights are obviously different, but the D pillar has grown to increase rear headroom and cargo capacity.

By contrast, you can see the ID Crozz is a lot sleeker from the rear. But also less practical.
Volkswagen
VW and Ford have both used the same visual trick—this is the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric crossover, and it also paints some of the roofline black to hide it. It’s a simple but very effective technique.
The ID Crozz got these expensive-looking rear doors, and no B pillar.

But the ID.4 is altogether more conventional here.

There are more cooling apertures on the front of the ID.4 than the concept.
