Ford’s best-selling Transit is going electric, and it’s coming to America

The Transit van is Europe’s answer to the Ford F-150. It’s a ubiquitous work vehicle, and an all-electric version is coming to the US and Canada in 2022.

A Transit can do pretty much everything a pickup truck can do. See? Don’t these workmen look happy with their van?

But a Transit can do a few more things, as well. Like keep rain and snow off whatever cargo it is you need to carry.

Like a pickup truck, you can get a Transit in different body styles. This is the cutaway chassis. You’ll be able to get one of these with an electric powertrain in 2022 as well.

This may be a surprise to learn, but vans are also more than capable of towing stuff. The electric transit will be able to tow stuff, too.

If you have more than five children, you’ve probably had to resort to getting a passenger van as your family transport. Can’t do that with an F-150! (Well, you might in rural states where the police don’t arrest you for putting all your children in the truck bed.)
